    Position Summary

    The Staff Accountant will be responsible for cash reporting, accounts receivable management and booking receipts and GAAP accruals to the general ledger for the LA film team.  This position will actively participate in the month-end close process and support various operational and finance teams, both in financial and management reporting.

    Responsibilities

    Accounts Receivable

    • Track receipts to collection accounts and provide reporting to participation team.
    • Invoice partners for development projects and productions.
    • Compile backup and invoice productions for costs incurred.
    • Prepare deposit slips and take to bank as needed.
    • Compile necessary information from financial institutions such as banks and credit organizations.

    Month-End Close

    • Prepare journal entries in support of the monthly closing cycle.
    • Prepare monthly analysis of accruals and journal entries.
    • Analyse key balance sheet and income statement accounts.
    • Responsible for accurate and timely month end balancing of AR subsystems to the general ledger.
    • Assist on other ad hoc month-end close tasks

    General

    • Performs routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the general ledger.
    • Professional communication with customers and co-workers.
    • Prepare weekly cash forecasts and other reports, provide documentation as requested.
    • Calculate fringe payments due and prepare statements for partners and accounts payable.
    • Assist in company secretary tasks such as generating W-8 and W-9 tax forms for relevant entities.

    Knowledge & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting.
    • 1-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
    • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and technical ability to work with accounting software systems are required. Preference will be given to those who have experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (a.k.a. Great Plains), Xero, or Microsoft NAV accounting systems.
    • Works well with others and able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast paced and changing environment.
    • Excellent analytical, verbal and writing skills, as well as good organizational and time management skills.
