    Position Summary

    Reporting to the VP Finance, the Director, Financial Reporting is responsible for a complete and accurate general ledger of two reporting divisions and the resulting financial statements.  The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining financial and accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and entity-level and overall reporting, as well as being the key owner of the accounting systems and processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the month end, quarter end, and year end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Review consolidation and prepare the related financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and cash flows.
    • Responsible for monthly supplementary packs including variance analysis for actual to budget/forecast of revenue and EBITDA bridge; income statements, balance sheets and cash flows
    • Oversee, organize, review and validate all balance sheet reconciliations and other working papers.  Create a balance sheet presentation package to be prepared quarterly encompassing all entities and tying to Tagetik consolidation system.
    • Working with senior team members as required, assist in producing individual entity financial statements, and in researching, reconciling and preparing adjusting journal entries.
    • Manage the internal and external audits at half year and year end.
    • Assess and improve efficiencies within the department (day to day tasks, month end close, checklists, etc.).
    • Applying best practices in business processes through process mapping and reengineering to optimize efficiencies and maintain or improve financial controls.
    • Provide leadership and supervision to finance team.
    • Proactively lead any special projects and ad hoc tasks as required.

    Key Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and professional designation
    • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and managerial experience required.
    • Strong reporting, technical accounting and consolidation skills.
    • Experience working in a multi-currency reporting environment and familiarity with FX required.
    • Experience in entertainment industry and public company environment is preferred.
    • Strong Microsoft software skills: Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.), Outlook, Dynamics (Navision), or technical ability to work with accounting software systems are required.
    • Experience using Prophix and Tagetik reporting software are a definite plus.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Fast learner and self-starter; willingness to roll up ones’ sleeves to get the job done.
    • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability.
    • Ability to work overtime when required at month and year ends.
