    Position Summary

    The Director, FP&A is responsible for leading the FP&A team for Features films in LA, overseeing the financial operations and being a key business partner for the Feature Films Division and international sales business (Sierra). Working closing with the VP, you will ensure accurate variance tracking and consistency in processes. This role will manage the annual budgets and long-range plans, monthly and quarterly reforecasts, and ensure timely analysis of financial statements, cash flows and global title performance. In addition, they will forge a strong working relationship with the Divisional finance team in Toronto to ensure efficient information flow.

     

    The Director, FP&A will be responsible for ensuring adherence to financial policies, procedures and internal controls while working closely with business management to provide insightful financial support and analysis and implementing best practices from other entertainmentOne production businesses.

     

    The Director, FP&A will provide solid leadership and technical guidance to direct reports on the financial planning team and advise on production accounting matters where necessary.

    Responsibilities

    Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting:

    • Management of monthly, quarterly, bi-annual forecasts, as well as annual budget and three-year plans with accompanying presentation decks.
    • Track performance relative to budgets, forecasts, and performance targets with a key focus on the global analysis of each Features title
    • Participate in senior finance meetings, preparing and presenting relevant documents, reports and plans in a timely manner
    • Ownership of the ultimates reporting process for Features Film ensuring that accurate ultimates are used for forecasting and for amortization calculations
    • Work with participations and residuals departments to update participations accruals and ultimates
    • Drive FP&A function process improvements and implement solutions that will result in more efficient collection, analysis, and reporting of information

     

    Financial Statement Analysis

    • Deliver timely, accurate, and effective analysis and reporting of financial and operational performance metrics.
    • Prepare regular cash forecasting

     

    Production and Development:

    • Own development reporting for Features including accurately recording development payments to title and forecasting commitments costs
    • Work with Business and Legal Affairs department to collect all information needed for accounting and forecasting including preparing summaries of production loans, tax credits and other external financing structures for productions
    • Ensure that productions are properly funded including managing access to the early money line and approving all loan payments including internal minimum guarantees
    • Work with divisional and group management to synchronize policies and procedures for Features Film
    • Accomplish tasks on time and contribute to the team by leading and taking on special projects and ad hoc tasks as required

    Key Competencies

    • Professional accounting designation (CPA / CA, CGA, CMA) required with an undergraduate degree
    • Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting and management experience required
    • Production accounting and finance experience preferred
    • Effective written and oral communication skills with individuals at all levels
    • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment under pressure with tight deadlines, while simultaneously handling multiple projects
    • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
    • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
    • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
    • Excellent teamwork, collaboration and team building skills

     

    Technical Competencies

    • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Office – Outlook, Word, strong Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups etc.)
