    Position Summary

    Position: Sr. Accountant, Home Entertainment

    Reporting to: Director, Financial Analysis & Home Entertainment

    Location: Toronto, Ontario


    Position Summary:

    This position will play a critical role in the smooth day-to-day operation of physical distribution accounting, implementation and understanding of new processes while transitioning and assisting in the analysis of current and historical transaction information.


    Month End

    • Prepare and import Third-Party distribution feed data - review for missing mapping and highlight any data issues ahead of the upload
    • Prepare transaction COGS (Cost of Good Sold) entries for month end close, and provide detailed analysis to better understanding the current months activity compared to budget
    • Ownership of Inventory Reconciliation, investigating variances and movements


    Quarter End

    • Ownership of the Inventory Obsolescence Provision, working with the Operations team to align on inputs and assumptions
    • Preparation of Quarterly Balance Sheet Packs for management reporting, regarding inventory balances and the obsolescence provision
    • Assist with quarterly reconciliations of Third-Party distribution feeds compared to statements



    • Be the main point of contact (internal & external) regarding Third-Party distribution feed and associated queries
    • Assist with Producer Audit queries, working closing with the Producer Audit team within Royalties to pull information/data/back-up
    • Assist with External Audit queries, working closing with the Director to pull information/data/back-up
    • Provide accurate and timely information to help facilitate strategic and operational decision-making
    • Accomplish tasks on time and contribute to the team by taking on and/or assisting with additional projects as assigned

    Key Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and professional designation
    • Minimum 5 years working experience in accounting required
    • Strong technical accounting skills; knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, reporting requirements and distribution accounting
    • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
    • Knowledge of Navision is an asset
    • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, multi-tasking and execution skills.
    • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
    • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
    • Able to thrive in a fast paced environment under pressure with tight deadlines, simultaneously handling multiple projects
    • Hands on approach to problem solving
