    Position Summary

    Entertainment One is seeking a Senior Production Accountant with knowledge in television cost accounting. Working with the teams including production accounting, productions, production financing, and legal, the role is accountable for pre- and post-production for shows in scripted, unscripted, and/or animation areas.  This person will bring experience from on-site production accounting experience with scripted and unscripted shows filmed in Canada and the US, working with production team on budgets, preparing cash flows, reviewing contracts, coordinating audits, and adhering to production accounting manuals with processes and controls.  The position is based in Toronto and reports to the Production Controller.


    • During the show approval process, works with production financing to prepare the required cash flows (multiple currencies), corporate cash funding, and bank accounts.
    • Responsible for set up of all production accounting functions, coordinating with production accounting team where needed. 
    • Perform pre-production and post-production accounting duties, from prep with writers, insurance, and deposits through to preparing documents for year end and tax credit audits.
    • During production, prepare and review weekly cost reports with Production Executives, ensuring that costs are accurately recorded and budget overages are eliminated or reduced and savings are contained.
    • Assist the Production Controller in tracking each production company’s cash balance and requirements, staying current with invoicing for funding as stipulated in contracts, and keeping track of tax credit balances.
    • Prepare schedules for production audit, tying into revenue and cost categories and providing relevant detailed schedules for auditors.
    • Address and provide schedules and accounting details for field queries relating to production audit(s).
    • Prepare or assist in the preparation of production financial statements for audit, tax and corporate purposes.
    • Generate month end management and financial reports for use by relevant departments. 
    • Coordinate setting up bank accounts, Business Number and GST registrations and accounting software for new productions.
    • Ensure productions are operating in accordance with production accounting manual, reviewing requirements with on-site production accountants prior to shooting. 
    • Take the lead on updating the production accounting manual, coordinating the updates and compilation with other eOne divisions.
    • Assist Production Controller with special projects, including cash flows, hedging, production budgets, cost report summaries, scenario analysis, corporate structures, and US production issues.

    Key Competencies

    • CPA designation or current enrollment in CPA program is preferred.
    • Accounting or production accounting experience is a must.
    • Production or related industry experience is a must.
    • Well-versed in Canadian (and US) federal and provincial tax credit legislation.
    • Strong organizational skills, and a solid focus on achieving deadlines.
    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
    • Motivated, self-starter, problem solver, positive attitude.
    • Can work independently, and is a team player and leader when needed.
    • Strong computer fluency with excellent accounting software knowledge (Cast & Crew, Global Vista, Smart Accounting, and Excel)
