    Position Summary

    Position: Senior Accountant

    Reporting to: Senior Manager, Financial Reporting

    Location: Toronto, Ontario

     

    The Senior Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day, monthly and year-end reporting as well as analysis and controls in the Finance department.  The candidate will make a strong contribution by being actively involved in ensuring compliance with internal controls, as well as providing coaching and mentoring to direct reports. 

    Responsibilities

    • Actively involved in month-end and year-end close
    • Assist with year-end external and internal audits
    • Ownership of various monthly analysis packs submitted to Group Finance
    • Analysis and reconciliations of relevant balance sheet and income statement accounts
    • Prepare working paper schedules on monthly, quarterly and annual basis
    • Ownership of monthly Audit Binder
    • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, and by title information.
    • Actively involved in ensuring compliance with internal controls
    • Supervise and provide leadership to two direct reports
    • Accomplish tasks on time and contribute to the team by taking on special projects as needed

    Key Competencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and professional designation
    • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in accounting required
    • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, and reporting requirements
    • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
    • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
    • Knowledge of Navision is an asset
    • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, multi-tasking and execution skills.
    • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
    • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
