Seville International is Entertainment One’s Montreal-based international film distribution outfit, which specializes in strong independent films with crossover potential and art house films with award pedigree from Québec, Canada and around the world. Since launching in 2014, Seville International continues to build on its success as a dynamic, full service sales agent that licenses theatrical feature films to distributors worldwide with over 200 films in its catalogue including Cannes award-winning Xavier Dolan’s The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, It’s Only the End of the World and Mommy as well as Academy Award nominee Hany Abu-Assad’s The Idol, Academy Award winner Denys Arcand’s An Eye for Beauty, as well as Academy Award nominated films Beasts of the Southern Wild, Animal Kingdom, Incendies and Waste Land.

Position Summary

The Director of Sales is responsible for a full range of functions within Seville International, with a particular focus on management of the sales team in order to negotiate contracts and conditions on the sale of Seville International’s library of new and catalogue titles.



  • Sell feature film content in Latin America, UK, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, Greece, Eastern Europe, CIS, Turkey, Israel, Middle East, Africa and Airlines with a focus on developing direct relationships with key players (i.e. theatrical distributors, VOD operators, distributors, broadcasters, platforms, etc.)
  • Manages, develops, strategically plans and negotiates sales agreements from deal template to close with support from Legal Department where needed.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key partners in the territories, providing main point of contact for distributors.
  • Identifies new opportunities/partners in markets and stays aware of changing players and business models to contribute to new market development.
  • Manages sales rights windowing.
  • Works with the team to create an annual sales and revenue budget, ensuring alignment with upper management strategy.
  • Creates regular sales and follow up reports.
  • Attends key film festivals and markets (Berlin, Cannes, TIFF, AFM).
  • Travels as needed.
  • Exhibits values and is an ambassador for Seville International’s and Entertainment One’s culture.



  • Oversee and manage junior sales representative (who handles Asian territories excluding Japan as well as VOD and library sales).
  • Run regular sales calls – establishing agenda items per call.

Planning and Strategy

  • Together with the division head, drives annual planning & budget process.
  • Put together sales estimates for potential acquisitions and acquired films with head of the division.
  • Oversees database management – availability reports, screener logs, script logs etc.
  • Collaborates with key internal teams, i.e. acquisitions, finance and legal.
  • Liaises with Operations team for most efficient workflow and practices pertaining to invoicing, deliverables and legal.
  • Consistently seeking new and innovative ways to improve processes.


  • Provides weekly input and review of material as necessary to acquisition team (reads scripts, screen film submissions).
  • Identifies project opportunities externally and direct to relevant internal team/s.
  • Review press releases prior to submission to the trades.
  • Review and approve email announcements targeted to Seville International’s list of buyers.
  • Input, review and approval of brochure/line-up design prior to major markets.

Key Competencies

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of sales experience with existing relationships with film distributors worldwide. 
  • Highly motivated, entrepreneurial and driven to exceed targets. 
  • Open minded, efficient, adaptable, organized and a team player.
  • Innovative and able to take initiative.
  • Ability and ease to work under pressure.
  • Extremely organized in order to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities at the same time, often under time constraints and pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Particular interest and familiarity with arthouse cinema.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • French and other language knowledge an asset.

Travel Requirements


  • Attending main markets (Cannes, TIFF, AFM, EFM)
