Position Summary

The role will entail Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for the whole Group with a specialism in the Family and Music Division and supporting the newly created Film, Television & Digital Division. The Group FP&A Manager will business partner with the Divisions providing key business insight leading to more effective decision-making at a Group level.


Budgeting, planning and forecasting

  • Assisting with preparing the Group instructions and setting and communicating Group and Divisional targets
  • Managing the budgeting, planning and forecasting processes for the Group and Divisions
  • Reviewing and challenging Divisional submissions
  • Working with the Divisions to provide detailed analysis of budgets, plans and forecasts to understand main drivers, trends and risks and opportunities
  • Partnering with Division when preparing presentations to Group CEO and Group CFO
  • Liaising with Treasury and Tax teams when analysing interest and tax numbers
  • Developing reporting and analysis of Key Performance Indicators
  • Financial modelling of bank covenants to ensure the Group has sufficient headroom
  • Preparing Return on Investment analysis at a Divisional/Group level including annual post investment appraisal
  • Assisting in preparation of board papers including key messaging


Monthly reporting

  • Working with the Divisions to analyse variances in the management reporting to identify risks and opportunities and implication on the full year forecast
  • Preparing commentary for Executive Management Accounts
  • Tracking any issues identified at the month end


Interim/Year end reporting

  • Reviewing Business Unit highlights memorandums
  • Drafting the financial review sections of the Annual Report
  • Involved in the preparation of the Results Presentation
  • Preparing Going Concern Report



  • Consulted on potential acquisitions
  • Preparing forecast models around potential transactions and refinancing including sensitivity analysis and bank modelling
  • Responsible for working capital reports, where necessary



  • Providing/reviewing financial analysis and modelling to support managements’ business decisions on commercial and strategic projects
  • Preparing materials for the Executive Management Retreat twice a year
  • Assisting with the Group’s library valuation process
  • Helping to drive and deliver continuous improvement in Group FP&A
  • Working with Group Treasury team on analysing variances for monthly 16 week cash forecasts
  • Preparing Liquidity Certificate to bank on a quarterly basis
  • Liaising with Head of Investor Relations to assist with providing guidance to External Analysts and answering investor questions
  • Other adhoc projects
  • Covering role of the other Group FP&A Manager and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis during annual leave and other absences

Key Competencies

  • Strong educational background and qualified accountant with 3+ years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working in a FP&A department
  • Preference for previous Media industry experience
  • Previous experience of international multi-currency business desirable
  • Good understanding of Group reporting systems
  • Previous experience of Tagetik desirable
  • Strong Excel skills including experience of financial modelling
  • Powerpoint experience
  • Self-motivated with proactive approach to work

  • Inquisitive and analytical mind with excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet challenging deadlines

  • Ability to adapt to change

  • Willingness to work extra hours when required

  • Strong communicator with ability to maintain good working relationships with staff at all levels of seniority while ensuring colleagues meet their deadlines
