Position Summary

This role plays an important part in the preparation of reports, analysis of information and the communication of results effectively, to enhance and enable decision making by senior management.  The Accounting Analyst will also assist with the preparation of supporting schedules to the financial, treasury and production reports, as required by other departments, head office and third parties, interim and year-end audit schedules, and ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or assist with treasury and financial reporting for head office and senior management, on a weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis.
  • Research and assess balance sheet or other account issues, providing logical suggested solutions. Be prepared to implement recommendations.
  • Prepare monthly production loan schedules for banks, for covenant purposes.
  • Review new sales contracts and update receivables forecast model: push dates for invoicing, estimated due dates, amounts and key payment terms.
  • Review new acquisition deals to forecast MG payments.
  • Assist with analyzing issues related to production companies and loans, as such matters arise.
  • Compile key production title reporting related to status of MG
  • Provide ad hoc analytical and other reporting, projects and support as required.

Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or Commerce; CPA preferred
  • 3-5 years’ experience; in the entertainment industry an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required (i.e.: strong modelling skills, including pivot tables and v-lookups)
  • Experience using PowerPoint to create presentations is a plus
  • Previous experience in financial analysis, accounting and reporting preferred
  • Knowledge of GP Dynamics or similar accounting system is preferred
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, problem solving, and execution skills
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Proven work ethic; high degree of integrity; motivated; attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent team player and works well independently
  • Positive attitude, approachable and motivated
