Position Summary

This is a 12 month fixed term training accountant’s role working in a team of three to produce management accounting, reporting and commercial analysis for the UK’s largest independent content distributor. eOne is a global business, being listed in the FTSE 250.

Responsibilities

Main purpose of job

 

Working within the combined Management Accounting and FP&A team (team of 12), this role will undertake a variety of tasks and processes which contribute to the production of Management Accounts, Budgets and forecasts and all other associated deliverables to the UK management team, Global Film Group and Group Finance Function. In addition regular analysis will be prepared in close conjunction with the Business Analyst – Home Entertainment to support and develop the commercial function of the business.

Key accountabilities

 

Accounting

  •  Responsible for month end journal preparation and postings for key areas of the P&L and balance sheet leading to monthly Management Accounts being prepared for the Home Entertainment element of UK Film. This will include but not be limited to:
    • Coordinating and preparing monthly DVD sales information and posting of accruals and revenues by title

    • Preparation of month end marketing and technical accruals and prepayments journals
    • Analysis of monthly DVD revenue and variances to latest forecast
    • Review of DVD cost of sales including variance to forecast
    • Preparation and posting of DVD distribution fee by title
    • Production of balance sheet reconciliations and analysis of marketing spend
  • Stock reconciliation and analysis.
  • Assist with the building of month end reporting packs including the Filmed Entertainment Group’s Supplementary Reporting Pack.
  • Assist Business Analyst with ad hoc project work as required.
  • Provide support with additional analysis, including audit preparation and half year / full year reporting.

  

Planning and Analysis

 

  • In close conjunction with the Business Analyst – Home Entertainment, prepare monthly commercial reporting packs to be reviewed by relevant heads of department and MD/FD.
  • Collate and reconcile sales data from third parties to be used by Finance and HE departments.
  • Prepare regular analysis of internal and external information to present to commercial teams to aid decision making in areas such as industry trends and sales profiles.
  • Assist in preparation of Budgets and official Forecasts.
  • Forecast and review Home Entertainment cashflow.

Other Requirements

 

  • Part ACCA / CIMA qualified (first time passes preferred) with at least one year experience within another business
  • A minimum of 3 “B” grades at A level
  • Experience using Financial systems such as MS Navision & SAP preferable but not essential
